Greenhouse effect gases
Global warming potential is an international measure that is used to determine how much heat can be trapped on Earth by a greenhouse gas. In order for this measurement to be uniform, it was decided that the reference gas would be carbon dioxide, so it can be said that Global warming potential is a relative measure of global warming of various gases compared to CO2.
The Global Warming Potential (GWP) indicates how many tons of carbon dioxide is equivalent to one ton of emission of each gas. This indicator can be calculated for different periods, being 100 years the most frequent; carbon dioxide will always have a value equal to one. At the moment of making the comparison, the name of the gas, preindustrial concentration, concentration in the current year, years of persistence in the atmosphere and the warming potential must be placed.
In this way we can see what the amount of that gas was before the industrial age and how much has increased from those years to the current. In addition, it is important to mention that gases can have different persistence in the atmosphere. This data is important because it mentions how long it will take to disintegrate this gas and thus reduce the greenhouse effect it has on the atmosphere.
This heating potential is calculated over a specific time interval and must be expressed as a carbon dioxide factor. For example, if the GWP of 100 year methane is 25, the nitrous dioxide its 298; this means that methane traps 25 times more heat than carbon dioxide over the next 100 years, while nitrous dioxide will trap 298 times more heat than carbon dioxide.
The greenhouse effect gases are:
Carbon dioxide: This gas is one of the most common and probably the one that has the largest amount of emissions annually because it occurs during the combustion of fossil fuels such as coal and oil; it’s also produced in large quantities in cities by cars and trucks. In addition, if a tire dump were burned, they would produce large amounts of CO2 and other gases into the atmosphere. For this reason it is vitally important to recycle tires such as tire derived fuel and reduce this gas produced as an energy source. By using the tires as tire derived fuel we will have the opportunity to reduce the combustion of non-renewable resources, reducing the gases emitted when producing energy and at the same time we will be reducing the millions of tires that are missing by recycling in the world.
Methane is another gas found when burning fossil fuels. So if we use the tires as tire derived fuel we will also be cooperating to reduce this gas from the atmosphere. In addition, this gas is found in the cultivation of rice, as well as livestock and in general in living beings. The more population there is, the more methane there will be in the atmosphere. This gas is also found in the decomposition of organic waste.
In the sea, there is a large amount of methane and frozen water. If the glaciers continue melting, these methane hydrates could thaw and add a lot of methane to the atmosphere, this would cause serious effects that would cause unprecedented global warming.
Nitrous oxide is produced by automobiles and power plants. In addition, this gas causes euphoria and hallucinations in people, which has often been used in various types of drugs. Likewise, it is present in fertilizers.
Hydrofluorocarbon is a gas produced in different industrial processes such as refrigerants and in electronics. Sometimes its emission into the atmosphere is due to leaks of refrigerants or heat insulating materials.
Perfluorocarbon is a gas produced in electrical industrial processes such as in the production of semiconductors, as well as in the production of steel. Sulfur hexafluoride, this gas is used to melt magnesium; it is also used as an insulating gas in electricity and in the semiconductor production process.
Finally, the black smoke that contains particles in suspension is not cataloged as a greenhouse gas, however they heat the atmosphere even worse than what a gas causes because this black smoke has contributed to the melting of glaciers in the Arctic and it is estimated that is responsible for twenty five percent of global warming.
Global warming and greenhouse gases are a problem that we must attend immediately because due to the growth of the population have had to increase the production of products and services which causes that there is a greater production of these gases worldwide to be able to meet the needs of the population.
Every factory in the world has contaminants and wastes so it is a collective job to find ways to reduce emissions of gases, waste as well as the consumption of raw materials and replace as much as possible with recyclable products and thus reduce a little carbon footprint in the world, besides fighting against the plastic and rubber that are invading the world.
One way to save on costs, fuel and raw material is to use tire derived fuel since in doing so factories will decrease costs in acquiring fossil fuels, use less amount of fuel due to the heat properties of the tires and will contribute to reduce the amount of tires that are in landfills around the world.
In Globarket you will find tire derived fuel. We use whole tires and then reduce them in a few inches, but also we can offer them with no steel or no fiber to fit what your factory needs.
